Following extensive consultation and technical work that was undertaken at the end of 2007 and during 2008, the SEEDA Project Team has produced a Visionary Framework for Daedalus.

The framework sets out SEEDA's vision to create a sustainable, high quality mixed use development which respects the site's existing heritage whilst releasing its potential to contribute to the economic growth of the region.

Details about proposed land uses and how transport and access will be dealt with as well as a range of key principles which will guide future development are included in the framework.  It also outlines the important role the site will play in providing opportunities for skills and training as well as the potentially significant number of jobs that may be created in the marine and aviation sectors.

The principles of a Visionary Framework were shown at the Daedalus Exhibition on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 December 2008 at the Lee Methodist Church Hall, Lee-on-the-Solent High Street - click to view the exhibition panels.

For those unable to attend the exhibition, a summary of the panels were available to view at Lee-on-the-Solent library, Stubbington library, Fareham library and Gosport Discovery Centre as well as Gosport and Fareham Civic Offices until the end of January 2009.

Having considered all the feedback given on the principles of development by the local community, as well as Members and Officers at Gosport Borough Council (GBC); Fareham Borough Council (FBC) and Hampshire County Council (HCC), the vision has been set out in a Visionary Framework.  All three Local Authorities (LA's) have since considered the Framework and support SEEDA's vision for Daedalus subject to the resolution of specific issues as set out in the documents below.

The Daedalus Project Team has since progressed with the next stage of the project.  This involves putting the appropriate planning policy in place which will in turn enable future planning applications to be considered.  Further information about this phase will be available on the website in due course.
